Description
Just a 20-minute walk from the town center is "The Red Gate", one of the Spitzer town gates. The last of the seven fortified gates, it was captured by the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War, with a heavy toll of blood on both sides. The name "Red Gate" is a reminder of this bloody time. It is also known as the Swedish Gate and is a popular excursion destinations with a beautiful view of Spitz.
Parking is available at the train station in Spitz or on the Donaulände.
