Description
The 355-metre-high Edelberg is located in the municipality of Aggsbach-Markt in the Wachau on the left bank of the Danube. It is nestled between the Jauerling, Emmersdorf and Spitz.
An easy hike on well-signposted hiking trails leads up the mountain.
Hike up the Edelberg
The five-kilometre Edelberg circular trail starts from the market square in Aggsbach-Markt and leads through forests to the Edelberg and Glatzberg. A forest road takes you back down into the valley. At the end of the tour, you have the opportunity to visit the parish church "Mariä Himmelfahrt" from the 13th century.
Public access and transport
From April to November, Aggsbach-Markt can be reached by the Wachau Railway from Krems or Emmersdorf. The WL1 bus line also runs every hour from Melk and Krems train stations. The current timetables can be found at https://anachb.vor.at/
There is also a Nextbike station (rental bikes, € 1/hour) in Aggsbach Markt.
Tips in the surrounding area
- The Jauerling Nature Park offers 350 km of different hiking trails. The family hiking trails, the nature park's own pilgrimage trail, as well as a varied selection of stages of two large circular hiking trails, which are also suitable for a multi-day tour.
- The Hubhof family park: Young and old alike will find everything they need for fun, games, adventure and leisure in the open air. This includes the dinosaur forest, the Indian land, the fairytale forest and the spacious leisure park.
