Naturpark Jauerling - Wachau

Sitting at 915 meters above sea level and looking far into the countryside, you can enjoy a sunny day on the Wachau terrace of the nature park house on the Jauerling. The forests and meadows of the Jauerling-Wachau Nature Park surround the Nature Park House. On a clear day, you can see from the Carpathian Mountains over the Ötscher massif to the Watzmann. The summit of the Jauerling is the heart of the nature park. - It is considered the local mountain and sunroof of the Wachau and is also the highest point along the 2,800 km long Danube.

In the Jauerling-Wachau Nature Park, the hiking trails lead across sunny vineyards, centuries-old stone terraces and dry stone walls, apricot orchards and fruit gardens, natural beech forestsbeech forests, shady woodlands, beautiful meadows, past castles, ruins and palaces and with views of the free-flowing Danube, across the Alps and into the Waldviertel.The Jauerling circuit, with its seven stages, is ideal for those with strong calves as well as leisure hikers. One stage of the Welterbesteig Wachau - Wachau World Heritage Trail also leads over the Jauerling.
