Description
Grabenwerkstatt was founded in 2014, but the idea for it was born a year earlier, when the two founders worked together in New Zealand at Pyramid Valley Vineyards and got to know a new world of wine that has shaped them to this day. Biodynamic principles play just as much a role as the meticulous examination of each individual vine, manual work and the attempt to get to the bottom of the spirit of the place.
The Grabenwerkstatt therefore stands above all for origin, which for them is defined by the often extreme natural conditions in the Spitzer Graben. They try to understand the essence of each individual vineyard, to get to the bottom of its peculiarities one by one and to retell them as precisely as possible in their wines. Elegance, vitality, structure and natural depth are decisive parameters.
They focus solely on Grüne Veltliner and Riesling. This is primarily due to the conviction that these two varieties best reflect the full potential of the Spitzer Graben. But it also has to do with their very personal preferences. And you should definitely make room for them - because ultimately you can probably only make independent wines full of character if you can identify with them with complete conviction and enthusiasm.
