Nature Park with a vision

More than 45 years of nature park history

The Jauerling-Wachau Nature Park was founded in 1973 to ensure the maintenance and preservation of the Jauerling landscape conservation area and to promote tourism. At that time, the nature park was run as a private association by chairman Hans Pichler, who implemented successful initiatives in regard to tourism and regional development. The nature park inn is still known as the Hans Pichler House today. In 1999, the association went bankrupt due to the construction of a large seminar house in the summit area.

In 2003, the nature park association was taken over and refounded by the seven nature park communities of Maria Laach, Spitz, Mühldorf, Aggsbach, Emmersdorf, Weiten, and Raxendorf. Today, Edmund Binder, mayor of Maria Laach am Jauerling, acts as chairman of the association. The seven nature park communities are represented on the board of the association.
